AcuTherapy Clinics provides acupuncture for neck pain at our Honolulu (Liliha) and Aiea locations. Neck pain is one of the most common complaints we treat — from stiff mornings and desk-related tension to cervical disc issues, whiplash, and chronic pain that hasn’t responded to physical therapy. Our licensed acupuncturists address both the immediate pain and the underlying root cause through individualized treatment.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, neck pain is often related to stagnation of Qi and Blood in the cervical meridians, combined with Wind, Cold, or Dampness invasion. Acupuncture points along the Gallbladder, Bladder, and Triple Warmer meridians are selected to release muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and restore circulation to compressed or irritated tissues. Specific points at the base of the skull, along the trapezius, and in the cervical paraspinal muscles provide direct local relief.
For chronic or structural neck problems — including disc herniations, cervical spondylosis, and nerve impingement — we combine acupuncture with Dr. David Cai’s CenterGy (Synergies) method, which uses precision energy work to address deeper musculoskeletal patterns. This integrative approach reduces dependence on pain medication and supports long-term recovery without surgery or injections.
Is acupuncture effective for neck pain? Clinical research supports acupuncture for both acute and chronic neck pain. A 2017 Cochrane review found acupuncture more effective than sham or no treatment for reducing neck pain intensity and improving function. Most patients report noticeable relief within 3–6 sessions.
How many sessions will I need? A typical acute neck strain responds in 4–8 sessions. Chronic neck pain, disc issues, or post-surgical cases may require 10–16 sessions. We reassess after the first 4 visits and adjust the plan based on your progress.
Does insurance cover acupuncture for neck pain? AcuTherapy Clinics accepts Workers’ Compensation, Auto Accident PIP (Hawaii No-Fault), Veterans Community Care, UHA, HMAA, Medicare Supplement, AARP, Humana, AshLink, and more. Please call our office to verify coverage before your first visit.
