AcuTherapy Clinics accepts a wide range of insurance plans at our Honolulu (Liliha) and Aiea (Pearl City) locations. Many patients pay $0 out of pocket. Below is a complete list of accepted plans and how each one works for acupuncture and medical massage in Hawaii.
Hawaii Workers’ Compensation covers acupuncture and medical massage for workplace injuries including back pain, repetitive strain, and soft tissue injuries. We handle all direct billing and authorization paperwork. $0 out of pocket for qualifying patients.
Hawaii’s mandatory Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance covers acupuncture and massage therapy at 100% for injuries sustained in auto accidents — whiplash, back pain, neck injuries, and more. No deductibles. We bill your auto insurer directly.
We are an authorized VA Community Care Network (CCN) provider. Eligible veterans can receive acupuncture and pain management care covered by the VA with a community care referral from their primary VA provider.
UHA members with acupuncture benefits can use their coverage at both AcuTherapy locations. Contact our front desk to verify your plan’s visit limits and copay amounts.
HMAA members may have acupuncture benefits through their employer-sponsored health plan. We bill HMAA directly — call us to verify your specific coverage before your first visit.
Medicare now covers acupuncture for chronic low back pain (up to 12 sessions per year, extendable to 20 with demonstrated improvement). AARP and Humana Medicare Supplement plans may provide additional coverage. We verify benefits at no cost to you.
