Acupuncture Aftercare

What to do and not do after your appointment:

After treatment care is just as important as the treatment itself. At our office you may notice bottles of water on our lobby’s shelf. These are for you! It is important that you drink one cup of room temperature water and relax for at least 10 to 15 minutes. These are two simple tasks that can help your body to receive the full benefits of the acupuncture treatment. After your treatment you can continue on with your day as you usually would. We recommend that you take the day off from the gym, it is key that you avoid strenuous activity. Listen to your body! If you feel tired, let yourself relax or sleep if you can.

Chinese Medicine and Cold

Try your best to avoid cold things after your treatment for the rest of that day. This includes ingesting cold food or drinks and engulfing yourself in cold water or temperatures. If you are planning on showering, we suggest that you wait a few hours after your appointment. In Chinese Medicine, cold is not good for circulation which is especially important for energy flow after receiving acupuncture. Avoiding cold is especially important when dealing with stomach issues and pain. It is also very important to avoid cold when dealing with stomach issues and pain. For women especially, cold can lead to or exacerbate menstrual issues. If you are seeing us for a few sessions we recommend that you avoid the cold for the duration of your treatment.
